…of beautiful Auckland from the magnificent new HQ of Lovenotes with all day sun & city views. The recent sunsets of fabulous colour have been blissful & beautiful, and the view of our city from a new perspective is refreshing. I find sunsets incredibly inspiring, when I’m lucky and she treats me with my fave colours — striking highlighter pink and orange amongst blue sky and clouds. And when it elongates through time, painting a gorgeous picture through the skies into the evening with grey-blue sky tainted with the remains of orange sunset. . . Mmmm, spoilt by nature.

Here’s some beauties from some of the most fabulous places I’ve visited in the world. Figure out where?

I chose colours especially for my Cocoa Pop, Reza; chocolate brown, apple green, lollipop pink, raspberry red, and pure paper white (no colouring involved with that one – strategical move). I sat there with endless cups of tea, Whittaker’s macadamia milk choco, colouring pens and small paper scraps, colouring away for a few hours until I had enough to call it confetti. The paper was from the edges of my Thoughter notebook, when I ripped pages out of it and the binding munches the edge of the paper, little bits fall off.

Dunedin, I enjoyed it all, especially the creativity that nicely flowed out of me in the form of confetti, but also letters and notes, designs for our next collection, and doodles of beauty.

But for a while there’s also been a little somethin’ missing for me. It’s fantastic and all, but still not quite complete. After pondering on this for some months (just really in a little corner in the back of my mind, nothing to sleep-depreiving!) I recently asked myself this question:

If LOVEnotes was a fashion design company, what would it look like?

I asked that question because this gapping hole was feeling rather in the creative space, and because I am, by education, a fashion designer. I love fabrics and colours, textures and shapes, fit and construction, quality and flow. So naturally, it was a simple and easy way for me to make a creative connection.

So what would it look like? Seasonal collections, changing designs, colours, shapes and products. I liked it. The response and exploration of this question lead us to arrive at quite a beautiful place for LOVEnotes; seasonal designs for our covers and backing boards, changing designs, colours, new products and shapes. And what did I think? Mandi loves it.

We’ve arrived at this realisation that not only can we make the world a better place by providing a stationery and paper recycling service, but we too can enjoy the fabulosity and fun of creating seasonal collections. As the people using our products and service, I hope this makes your LOVEnotes experience way more exciting! As employees, this is very exciting; it makes our work even more enjoyable, creative, and purposeful. Our work becomes a reflection of ourselves and an expression of our creativity. These new products, as usual, won’t be for purchase. They will be limited editions, every collection. They may feature artists and designers you love or don’t know of, yet. They will simply be a new layer upon the already beautiful service we provide. Same service; awesome, new, exciting designs each time your stationery comes back!

First collection may take some time as we put on our design minds again (it’s been around eight years), but watch this space for things as they happen, and if you want in, you know how it works… Sign up for our service, start collecting your used paper, and let us do some magic and turn it into awesome stationery delivered back to your door.

And while we’re on the topic of new ideas at LOVEnotes, I thought I’d throw this out there too: Inspired by this awesome event by Moleskin in New York, and thinking about how we could do something similar / as awesome / better / local, and most importantly, for You; because we don’t just want to work with companies and organisations, we secretly and actually just really, really want to work with you.
